Maddie Johnson-Harwitz, Design

Innovator, designer, educator.

Currently studying industrial design at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and serving as Vice President of the Industrial Design Society of America at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

Introduced to the design world late in high school, I found that the effort I had been funneling into my work finally felt like it was producing something meaningful. Applying my ambition and drive to form creative solutions to real world problems in my community gave me a newfound sense of purpose. I take special interest in universal design and human-centered design, and the idea of designing with empathy. With experience as a full-time design educator to middle and high school students, as well as makerspace and shop management, I am also passionate about creative thinking and the design process as a way of learning and connecting with others.
